As part of Energy Month 2025, the Barbados National Energy Company Limited (BNECL) is proud to launch its inaugural BNECL Energy Quiz, under the theme “Powering the Future through Knowledge.”
This exciting initiative will see students from three primary schools go head-to-head in a friendly but spirited battle of wits, testing their understanding of energy, sustainability and Barbados’ renewable energy goals.
The preliminary rounds will be held at each participating school:
November 5 – Luther Thorne Primary School
November 12 – Gordon Walters Primary School
November 19 – St. Bartholomew Primary School
The top student from each school will advance to the Grand Finale on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the BNECL Sports Club, where one champion will emerge as the BNECL Energy Quiz Winner 2025 winning exciting pries for themselves and their school.
According to Samantha Hazlewood-Ermay, Marketing & Public Relations Officer, “The Energy Quiz is an engaging way to spark curiosity and inspire our young energy leaders to think about the role they can play in shaping a sustainable energy future. As we celebrate Energy Month, we are reminded that education and innovation go hand in hand in achieving our national carbon-neutral vision."
The BNECL Energy Quiz is part of BNECL’s broader community engagement strategy, supporting the national drive toward sustainability and raising public awareness about renewable energy.
This initiative forms a key part of the country’s Energy Month 2025 celebrations, highlighting the progress Barbados continues to make on its journey toward a cleaner, greener and more resilient energy future.
